Privacy Policy
What Vidoco collects, why, who it’s shared with, and what you can do about it.
Who we are
Vidoco (https://vidoco.shaheermalik.com) is operated by Shaheer Malik, an individual (“we”, “us”). We are the controller of the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us at me@shaheermalik.com.
The short version
- We don’t sell your data and we don’t show ads.
- We don’t use analytics or advertising trackers.
- Your video projects are saved in your own browser, not on our servers.
- Payments are handled by Polar. We never see your card details.
What we collect
- Account details from Google. When you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address, profile picture and Google account ID. We use them to sign you in and to connect your subscription to you.
- Subscription details. Polar, our payment provider, tells us whether you have an active trial or subscription, which plan it is and when it renews.
- Projects you export. When you export a video, that project’s content (its text, settings and timeline) is sent to our servers so the video can be rendered.
- Technical data. Our hosting provider processes IP addresses and request logs to deliver the service and protect it from abuse.
What we don’t collect
- Payment card details — you enter them directly with Polar.
- Projects you don’t export — they stay in your browser’s local storage on your device.
How long we keep it
- Your sign-in session lasts up to 30 days, in a cookie on your device.
- We don’t keep a user database. Your account details live in that session cookie and, if you subscribe, in Polar’s customer record.
- Rendered videos are deleted from our servers within about an hour.
- Polar keeps billing and tax records for as long as the law requires.
- Hosting logs are kept according to Cloudflare’s retention periods.
Who we share it with
We use these providers to run Vidoco. They process data on our behalf or as independent controllers under their own policies:
- Google — sign-in with your Google account.
- Polar Software, Inc. — our merchant of record. Polar runs checkout, charges your card, issues invoices and handles sales tax and VAT. Polar’s own privacy policy applies to checkout.
- Cloudflare, Inc. — hosting, security and content delivery.
- Google Fonts — typefaces downloaded by our servers while rendering exports. This involves no personal data about you.
Cookies and local storage
We only use cookies that are needed to keep you signed in and to secure sign-in. There are no analytics or advertising cookies, so there is nothing to opt out of.
Vidoco stores your projects and editor preferences in your browser’s local storage. They never leave your device unless you export a video.
Legal bases (EEA and UK)
- Contract — to provide the service you signed up for.
- Legitimate interests — to keep Vidoco secure and prevent abuse.
- Legal obligation — to keep billing and tax records, which Polar does on our behalf.
International transfers
Our providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. They protect it with standard contractual safeguards.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, and object to or restrict how we use it. Email me@shaheermalik.com and we’ll reply within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
You can delete projects at any time from your projects page or by clearing your browser’s storage. You can manage or cancel your subscription in Polar’s customer portal: account menu → Manage billing.
Children
Vidoco isn’t meant for anyone under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy we’ll update the date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we’ll also tell subscribers by email.
